Our philosophy of care
Our philosophy of care is not to impose one certain method of care to all pregnant woman. We wish to offer women knowledge and choice regarding pregnancy and delivery and together to decide a suitable plan of care.
It goes without saying that for issues that have to do with mother’s and baby’s safety, our role is more decisive. We are strong supporters of the everyday practices of pregnancy and labour care that are followed in United Kingdom and North-West Europe which has resulted in a much lower rate of Caesarean Section comparing to Greece. We try hard to apply this U.K experience into the modern and well equipped hospitals that we co-operate with.
Follow-up appointments of pregnancy take place at our Obstetrics and Gynaecological Practice with Dr. Michael Lazanakis and Midwife Fiona McIntosh. The ultrasound assessments are performed by Dr Michael Lazanakis who holds the Diploma of Obstetric Ultrasound issued by the Royal College of Gynaecologists & Obstetricians and the Royal College of Radiologists. Our practice can also offer Cardiotocographic assessment if required.
At any occasion we are happy to answer questions and discuss any anxieties. Fiona McIntosh organises courses of labour preparation and post maternal and baby care. Visits to the unit where the woman has chosen to give birth can also be arranged.
Our primary goal is to support the woman and her partner to achieve a positive birth experience of their baby, under the discrete but close medical supervision which will ascertain security and safety.
